Still in her first campaign, New Zealand bred filly Rising Romance showed talent and heart when racing away with the Australian Oaks (G1) at the 2014 Championships. It was an ever more exceptional win given the filly was having the tenth start of a campaign that began six months prior. Prior to competing in the Sydney Autumn, Rising Romance showed considerable prowess winning both the Trevor Eagle Memorial (L) and the New Zealand Bloodstock Royal Stakes (G2). Taking on the boys Rising Romance was second to Puccini in the Avondale Guineas (G2) and then second again when flying home late in the New Zealand Derby (G1).
