Sydney’s premier trainer Chris Waller was joined by one the city’s premier jockeys Hugh Bowman to win the Arrowfield 3YO Sprint with talented, but sometime difficult, Delectation.
After finishing runner-up to stablemate Brazen Beau in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes in the spring at Flemington, the son of Shamardal entered The Championships with moderate form at best due to his erratic racing manners.
He was well beaten again by his stablemate in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap.
But at The Championships Day 2 he was at his professional best in sprinting past the field to record a tight win from the fast-finishing Bring Me The Maid.
