Cast your mind way back to 2012 and you’ll find that Rebel Dane won his first four starts before losing a nostril at his fifth outing to Pierro. Fast forward five years and Rebel Dane is a two-time Group One winner. The latest of those victories coming just last spring in the Manikato Stakes, and at big odds.
He subsequently tackled the Hong Kong Sprint but not much went right for the seven-year-old and he finished closer to the back than the front, but was only beaten 4.8L at the end of the day.
He’ll be freshened for a third tilt at the TJ Smith Stakes and be attempting to go one better than his second placing to Lankan Rupee back in the inaugural year of The Championships 2014.
