Chad Schofield has had the fortune of experiencing racing around the world.  He grew up following his father Glyn as he rode successfully in their homeland, Hong Kong and then in Sydney where he commenced his apprenticeship.

Schofield moved to Victoria in 2012 to learn under trainer David Hayes, an association which saw the extension of a familial connection extending as far back as both families' days in Hong Kong.

There is no doubting the impact Schofield has had in his short time in the saddle, with the young hoop laying claim to the unusual record of being the champion apprentice in Sydney in 2011/12 and Melbourne in 2012/13.

Chad scored his first ever Group One victory when he guided Shamus Award – a maiden galloper prior to the race – home in the Group One-WS Cox Plate at Moonee Valley last November.

He backed that up with victory in the Group One Newmarket Handicap aboard Lankan Rupee in early March and just a couple of days later won the Group Two Adelaide Cup on Outback Joe.
