Mick Price, who took out his trainer’s licence in 1991, learned his trade from some of the greats during spells with Bob Hoysted, George Hanlon, John Meagher and Lee Freedman.
Price has been a fixture in the top five in the Melbourne trainers’ premiership in recent years, and is particularly revered for his skill with juveniles. His stable stars have included the brilliant Blue Diamond winner Samaready, dual Group One winner Heart of Dreams, 2009 Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner Pompeii Ruler and of course, former World Champion Sprinter and five-time Group One winner Lankan Rupee.
