‘BELLA VERDI’ - A MASTERPIECE OF EMERALDS, PINK AND BLACK DIAMONDS HAS BEEN GIVEN AWAY AT THE GRAND FINALS OF THOROUGHBRED RACING

Luxury Australian jeweller Cerrone, who has created stunning new trophies for The Championships, also extended his unique creation to racegoers who attended The Championships in April. The commemorative pin for The Championships, was available for just $2 to racegoers on course at each of the two Saturdays of The Championships.

Mr Bates from Adamstown was the lucky racegoer who attended Day 2 of The Championships and has won the Pin & Win competition to give the Cerrone ‘Emerald City horse’ a name. The winning entry was ‘Bella Verdi’ meaning ‘Green Beauty’ in Italian.

For his entry, Mr Bates has won the $9,000 emerald and diamond encrusted Cerrone brooch which is pave set with Emeralds, Black Diamonds and Natural Pink Argyle Diamonds, and is designed in the style of The Championships trophies.

All proceeds from the sale of the pins have gone to Sony Foundation's youth cancer campaign, You Can, which aims to establish specialised youth cancer centres around Australia for 16 to 25 year-olds. Funds raised at The Championships will go towards funding a new You Can Youth Cancer Centre at Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick.
